PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image recorder in which continuous video recording reservation can be recorded with no break and a subsequent program can be headed when a program is reproduced. SOLUTION: A digital recorder/reproducer comprises an MPEG video encoder creating a plurality of VOBUs by compression encoding video signals, a means for recording the plurality of VOBUs on a hard disc, a navigation information generator including at least a cell for specifying the continuous VOBUs and generating chapter information accessible to the head VOBU of the cell, means (S17, S27 and S33) each recording the chapter information on the hard disc, and a system controller for sustaining the generation of VOBUs at the video recording end time of first video recording reservation information when second video recording reservation information is continuous to first video recording reservation information (YES at S28) and generating chapter information accessible to the VOBU recorded at the video recording start time of the second video recording reservation information (S33).
