PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a trace amount of substance in liquid in real time and with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A substance detector 10 comprises a laser oscillation section 20 for oscillating laser beams tuned to the absorption wavelength of a substance to be detected; a vaporization section 30 for vaporizing liquid 5L, in which a substance is dissolved to produce gas 5G; an absorption section 40 for making laser beams irradiated to the gas 5G for absorbing the laser beams; and a detection section 50 for detecting the intensity of the transmitted light of the applied laser beams.
