The method involves forming a bending arm which is biased onto a contact region of a wall of a housing (1). The bending arm is connected to the housing by transmitted laser welding, whereby a laser beam is applied to the device at a predetermined wavelength such that it is transmitted through the housing to the contact region. In the region where the laser beam is transmitted, the housing is made of a material that is transparent to that wavelength, and the contact region is made of a material that absorbs the laser beam. An independent claim is included for a device.
