A dielectric porcelain composition which comprises barium titanate and, relative to 100 moles of barium titanate having a Ba/Ti mole ratio being adjusted to 0.997 to 1.007, an Mg compound in an amount of 0.15 to 2.5 moles in terms of MgO, a Ba compound in an amount of 0 to 1.6 moles in terms of BaCO<SUB>3</SUB>, a Ln compound (wherein Ln comprises Er as an essential component and two or three elements selected from Er, Dy and Ho) in an amount of 0.1 to 3.0 moles in terms of Ln<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, an Mn compound in an amount of 0.01 to 0.4 moles in terms of MnO<SUB>4/3</SUB>, a V compound in an amount of 0.01 to 0.26 moles in terms of V<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>5</SUB>, a Si compound in an amount of 0.3 to 3.5 moles in terms of SiO<SUB>2</SUB>, and an Al compound in an amount of 0.01 to 2.5 moles in terms of Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>.
