PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical apparatus capable of providing necessary and sufficient amounts of an absorbent and a spacer and reducing space necessary for installation of them. SOLUTION: The electro-optical apparatus includes a light emitting element substrate (2) with light emitting elements (11, 13 and 14) provided on one side of a translucent substrate (10), and constituted to have light emission from the light emitting elements extracted from the other side of the translucent substrate; a circuit element substrate (3) with a circuit element (25) for driving the light emitting elements on one side of a substrate (20), and with the same side installed facing one side of the light emitting element substrate; and a spacer cum absorbent (31) composed of a plurality of granular substances with different granular diameters, provided with a function of absorbing gaseous foreign matter and a function of separating the light emitting element substrate and the circuit element substrate by a specified distance, and installed on points between the light emitting element substrate and the circuit element substrate.
