PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an externally operable structure which does not make a locking operation difficult even when an externally operable member is downsized. SOLUTION: The externally operable structure comprises a through hole provided in a case 11 of an instrument body and the externally operable member 18 which is inserted into the through hole and is exposed outside. A protruding edge part 17b provided with a body-side engagement part 17d is provided outside the through hole. The externally operable member 18 is provided with an operation-side engagement part 18d which can be engaged with the body-side engagement part 17d in the axial direction. By pushing the externally operable member 18 in an unlocked state in inwardly in the axial direction, the body-side engagement part 17d and the operation-side engagement part 18d are engaged with each other. They fit together with at least either one of them elastically deformed, thereby regulating the outward movement of the externally operable member 18 in the axial direction and allowing the externally operable member 18 to be shifted to a locked state in which it is supported by the protruding edge part 17b in the radial direction.
