PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the state of riding discomfort in an elevator due to vibration at an early stage, secure continuous operation of the elevator, and reduce costs and a load of a worker. SOLUTION: The operation state detecting device for an elevator is equipped with: a data accumulating means 12 for storing a load data as a distance data which is an output of a load sensor 6 for load compensation accompanying car load fluctuation provided between a cage 3a and a supporting frame 3b in time series in a data accumulation part 11; an acceleration calculating means 13 for calculating acceleration by differentiating the stored distance data by time, and corresponding the calculated acceleration to the load data and storing it; and a determination processing means 14 for comparing the acceleration obtained by the acceleration calculating means 13 and at least one predetermined determination threshold value, determining good or bad of the operation state, and storing the determination result in the data accumulation part 11.
