PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a second needle plate to be easily detachable from a first needle plate in the needle plate which is equipped with the first needle plate being fixed to a sewing machine bed, and the second needle plate which is detachably fitted on the first needle plate. SOLUTION: In this needle plate, the first needle plate 11, the second needle plate 30, an engaging mechanism 50, and a disengaging mechanism 51 are provided. The first needle plate 11 is fixed to the sewing machine bed, and on which a needle hole 12 through which a sewing needle can pass, and a square hole 13 through which a feed dog for feeding a fabric to be processed can appear/disappear are formed. The second needle plate 30 is arranged in front of the first needle plate 11 and above a horizontal shuttle mechanism, and is detachably fitted on the first needle plate 11. The engaging mechanism 50 engages the second needle plate 30 with the first needle plate 11 by sliding the second needle plate 30 from this side to the rear side to the first needle plate 11.
