PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor of an internal intermediate pressure multi-stage compression type, constructed to freely apply back pressure to the vane of a second rotary compression element for simplifying components and improving sealing performance. SOLUTION: The rotary compressor has a sealed container provided with an electric operated element and first and second rotary compression elements 32, 34 to be driven by the electric operated element. It comprises a roller fitted to a cylinder 38 constituting the second rotary compression element 34 and to an eccentric portion formed on a rotating shaft 16 of the electric operated element for eccentric rotation in the cylinder 38, an upper part supporting member 54 for closing the opening face of the cylinder 38, the vane abutting on the roller for partitioning the cylinder 38 into a low pressure chamber side and a high pressure chamber side, and a back pressure chamber for applying back pressure to the vane. The upper part supporting member 54 has a back pressure passage 72 for communicating the high pressure chamber side of the cylinder 38 with the back pressure chamber. To a lower part supporting member 56 as a sintered material, steam treatment is given after machining a lower cover sealing surface, improving the sealing performance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
