The siding has plate-shaped components (1), where each component comprises a frame partly surrounding a plate part, and a holding unit (6). Each component is fixed to a horizontal support unit (27) by the holding unit. Each holding unit is arranged on the respective component next to a bottom, horizontal edge (5) of the component. The point of the holding unit lies closer to the bottom edge than to the top edge of the component. The distance of the point from the inner side of the component corresponds to the thickness of the component.
