[Class 64 (iii)] In a plate heat-exchanger comprising one or more metal sheets wound to form spiral channels for the heat-exchanging media and formed with corrugations the longitudinal directions of which extend substantially in planes at rightangles to the axis of the spiral, adjacent windings of the sheet or sheets abut together along substantially the entire length of the crests of the corrugations so that each of the spiral channels is divided into a number of parallel passages substantially closed from each other. One plate 1 may be corrugated and the other plate 2 may be smooth for example. Alternatively both plates may be corrugated and the corrugations in the two plates may have a different height.
