<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stopper for a pig iron tap hole having good corrosion resistance to both molten pig iron and slag, and suitably usable to a medium to large size blast furnace. <P>SOLUTION: This stopper for a pig iron tap hole is formed by kneading a powder comprising refractory aggregate and refractory particulate with tar and/or a resin, where the composition of a powder portion with ≤45 μm particle size is made in a range of 3-50 mass% silicon carbide, 10-60 mass% silicon nitride and 0.2-10 mass% metallic aluminum, and the ratio of the powder portion with ≤45 μm particle size to the whole amount of the powder is made in a range of 25-70 mass%. Also aluminum oxide is blended in an amount of 2-20 mass%, in terms of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, to the whole amount of the powder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
