<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus by which an optional image is formed like a watermark on demand by a printer. <P>SOLUTION: Letters XYZ to be formed in a watermark pattern are formed in process black by using toner YMC, and a solid image is formed on the letters so as to cover with toner K. Since both of the image formed with the toner YMC and the image formed with the toner K are recognized as black under reflected light, they only look like the solid image as a whole. However, since light is absorbed not only by the toner YMC but also by the toner K in the letter part under transmitted light, the transmittance of the light gets lower than in other parts.
