PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of highly precisely preventing blurring due to hand shake. SOLUTION: The image pickup device generates an image signal representing object light on the basis of the object light passing through a photo-optical system. The image pickup device is provided with an image pickup unit for generating the image signal representing an object image obtained by image-forming the object light passing through the photo-optical system on the surface thereof, a turning sensor for detecting turning in a plane going along the surface of the image pickup unit of the image pickup device, and a turning mechanism for suppressing the deviation of the object image involved in turning of the image pickup device by turning the image pickup unit in the direction reverse to the turning direction detected by the turning sensor.
