PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original image reading/recording apparatus capable of simply performing update to the newest control program. SOLUTION: The original image reading/recording apparatus 1 is provided with a program storage means for storing a control program 16 for controlling the original image reading/recording apparatus 1; a detection means for detecting whether a detachable memory card (external storage medium) 17 is loaded or not; a program determination means for determining whether or not a control program newer than the control program 16 stored in the program storage means is stored in the memory card 17, when the detection means detects the loading of the memory card 17; and a rewriting means for rewriting the control program 16 stored in the program storage means to the newest control program 46C stored in the memory card 17.
