PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To count quickly and easily, when counting articles only for intended total number of one kind of desired article from among a plurality of kinds of articles. SOLUTION: The counter 1 of articles is equipped with a database 6 for storing the plurality of kinds A-E of articles and a plurality of kinds of calculation methods capable of calculating the total number N of articles constituting respectively each article group 2 based on each total weight W of each article group 2 measured in each kind A-E. When the kind A-E of the aimed article and the intended total number N of articles constituting the aimed target article group 2 are inputted, one kind of calculation method corresponding to the kind A-E of the article and the intended total number N is selected from among the various calculation methods based on the database 6 and displayed.
