PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elevator device without a machine room, capable of reducing an installation space and construction cost. SOLUTION: This elevator device without the machine room is provided with car return wheels 27, 28, 29 installed on a hoistway top part 3; a car hanging wheel 13 installed on a lower part of a car 4; a balance weight return wheel 21 installed on the hoistway top part 3; and a balance weight hanging wheel 26 installed on a balance weight 5. A rope 12 with one end side fixed to both end parts below a car ceiling is wound on a sheave 8b of a winding machine on the hoistway top part 3 via the car return wheels 27, 28, 29 on the hoistway top part 3 and the car hanging wheel 13 on the lower part of the car 4, and is hung via the balance weight hanging wheel 26 and the balance weight return wheel 21 on the hoistway top part 3. The other end of the rope 12 is fixed to a position in the vicinity of a central part of the upper part of the balance weight 5. This constitutes a 3:1 roping system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
