PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner capable of preventing reduction in a user's comfort during initial motion in starting an operation. SOLUTION: This indoor unit of the air conditioner comprises an indoor unit casing, a blower fan, a front panel, a horizontal flap and a control portion. The indoor unit casing is provided with a first suction port and a supply port. The blower fan creates the flow of air sucked from the first suction port and supplied from the supply port. The front panel is a member for opening and closing the first suction port. The horizontal flap is a member for opening and closing the supply port. The control portion starts suction port opening motion by moving the front panel to open the first suction port, starts the driving of the blower fan after the start of the suction port opening motion, and further starts the supply port opening motion for moving the horizontal flap to open the supply port, after the start of the driving of the blower fan, when the operation is started in an operation stop state where the blower fan is stopped, and the first suction port and the supply port are closed.
