PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the plastic deformation of a main guide shaft caused by external shocks while thinning an optical pickup unit base. SOLUTION: This optical disk drive device is constructed in such a manner that a strip-shaped member 61 as a rigid member of a shock absorbing member 60 hung in an optical disk drive unit base 40 in parallel with a main guide shaft 43 is inserted into a recessed groove 63 formed in the top surface of an optical pickup unit base 50 in parallel with the main guide shaft 43 in a noncontact state.
