PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it takes time to respond to a instruction for recording to layers other than the layer in which recording or reproduction is currently carried out since descriptions and recording statuses of the other layers are unknown, in a conventional optical disk having a plurality of recordable layers. SOLUTION: In a recordable optical disk which has a plurality of recordable layers and performs recording or reproduction of information optically to each layer, a classification area which shows descriptions of other recordable layers and a display area which shows recording statuses of other recordable layers are set up in a management area of a certain recordable layer.
