PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use a brittle member such as glass as an earthquake-resisting wall and to increase the absorbing energy of the vibration. SOLUTION: A hole 2 is made at a corner of a bottom side of a plate glass 1 and a bush 3 is inserted to the hole, and it is pinched with L-shaped fixing plates 5 from both the sides and the plate glass is rotatably fixed with a pin 6. At one corner apart from the plate glass 1, a viscoelastic sheet 7 is adhered to both the surfaces of the plate glass 1 thereby holding the plate glass 1 with a fixing plate 9 having an L-shaped section. At the top side of the plate glass, the plate glass 1 is fixed with pins and holding plates having slit holes 10 thereby preventing the plate glass 1 from being bent due to a deformation of the structural body resulted from the horizontal deformation. When an earthquake acts to the plate glass 1, it is turned around the pin 6 as the center of the rotation, the viscoelastic sheet 7 is deformed by shearing, and then the vibration energy is converted to thermal energy and absorbed thereby attenuating the vibration.
