PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal compound satisfying a plural number of properties such as polymerizable at room temperature, polymerizable in air, easily polymerizable, wide in liquid crystal phase temperature range, chemically stable, colorless, easily soluble in a solvent, excellent in compatibility with other polymerizable compound, and having small adhesion tension to support substrate. SOLUTION: At least one compound represented by formula (1), a composition containing the compound and a polymer obtained by polymerizing the compound are included. In formula (1), R is H or a 1-8C alkyl; A is independently a cyclic structure such as 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; G is 4,4"-terphenyl or 4,4'-biphenyl whose one or more H is substituted; Z is independently a single bond or a bond such as -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>2</SB>-; and P is a 1-20C alkylene.
