PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite yarn that has suppressed flexibility, permits easy tension control since the fluctuation of the tension is small, and has high strength and excellent knitting and weaving properties, further can produce woven fabric showing high flexibility, uniformity, good texture, appearance, touch feeling, lightness in weight and the like, and to provide the method for producing the composite yarn and woven fabric by using the composite fiber. SOLUTION: A filament yarn, polyurethane elastic yarn and a water-soluble fiber are compounded to provide compounded yarn. Polyurethane elastic yarn is extended 3 to 5 times and the extended polyurethane yarn is stranded or entangled with the above three kinds of the yarns to produce the compounded yarn.
