PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system driving device capable of realizing the shortening of time for focusing by improving a control part for driving a lens group, and having high detecting accuracy of a focus evaluated value by a contrast system. SOLUTION: In the optical system driving device, a CPU 7 calculates a the amount of defocus on an image surface based on detection by a CCD 3, and calculates time required until the lens group completely stops and the amount of defocus on the image surface gets stationary after a driving stop instruction is output, and further moves the lens groups in order from the lens group whose time required until the amount of defocus gets stationary is longer.
