X-RAY COLLIMATOR AND X-RAY DETECTOR

An X-ray collimator is composed of a plate having a thickness of 100 µm or above and provided, substantially in the thickness direction thereof, with at least one through hole having a hole diameter of 10nm-10µm at the narrowest portion. The material is barium phosphate glass containing BaO by 15-30 wt%. An X-ray detector comprises a CCD for detecting an X-ray beam, and a multi-collimator arranged just in front thereof and formed by distributing through holes randomly in the barium phosphate glass by utilizing the track of a heavy particle beam. They can be utilized as an X-ray detector for X-ray astronomy mounted on an artificial satellite.
