<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell with a polymer electrolyte membrane having improved durability while suppressing a flooding phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises cells each composed of a plate anode side separator arranged on one side of a MEA with its front face contacting the anode of the MEA and having a fuel gas flow path formed on the front face for fuel gas to flow therein and a plate cathode side separator 10 arranged with its front face contacting with the cathode of the MEA and having an oxidizing agent gas flow path formed on the front face for oxidizing agent to flow therein, a cell stack having the plurality of stacked cells, and a cooling water flow path 19 formed on the back face of at least one of the anode side separator and the cathode side separator 10 of at least the predetermined cell of the cell stack for cooling water to flow therein. The fuel gas, the oxidizing agent gas and the cooling water flow in the fuel gas flow path, the oxidizing agent gas flow path and the cooling water flow path 19, respectively, without acting counter to the force of gravity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
