<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly having high physicochemical stability and high hydrogen ion conductivity, and to provide a fuel cell system containing the membrane electrode assembly. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly is equipped with an anode and a cathode facing each other and a polymer electrolyte membrane arranged between the anode and the cathode, and the polymer electrolyte membrane contains an amphiphilic block copolymer comprising a hydrophobic block and a hydrophilic block. The membrane electrode assembly 21 and a fuel cell system 100 containing the membrane electrode assembly 21 are realized.
