<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fusion between a sintered compact and a sintering tool to each other or sintered compacts to each other and to suppress the degradation in magnetic characteristics of a rare earth magnet. <P>SOLUTION: In sintering a formed body 2 of magnet raw material powder containing a rare earth element in the state of placing the formed body on the sintering tool 1, zirconium oxide particles 3 produced by a wet process are interposed between the sintering tool 1 and the formed body 2. Also, in sintering the formed bodies 2 of the magnet raw material powder containing the rare earth element in the state of superposing the formed bodies on each other, the zirconium oxide particles 3 produced by the wet process are interposed between the formed bodies 2.
