PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of securely catching slip of a driving wheel to perform specific control for slip time of inhibition of gear shift. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission is constituted to perform normal gear shift control for the automatic transmission and perform specific control being separate from the normal gear shift control when the driving wheel is in a slip condition. This automatic transmission has a function for sensing rotation speed of a rotary member being proportional to rotation speed of at least the driving wheel, determines that change of rotation speed of the rotary member is in a slip condition before the change indicates that the driving wheel restores grip from the slip condition, and performs specific control such as fixation of gear stage, revision of gear shift line (map), and output limit of an engine.
