PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbapenem derivative which has a potent antimicrobial effect on pneumococci including MRSA, VRE and PRSP, influenza viruses including BLNAR andβ-lactamase-producing strains from among resistant strains bringing about clinical problems. SOLUTION: The carbapenem derivative is represented by formula (I) and broadly has a potent antimicrobial effect on Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. This carbapenem derivative has a potent antimicrobial effect on all sorts of pathogenic strains comprising particularly pneumococci including MRSA, VRE and PRSP, influenza viruses including BLNAR andβ-lactamase-producing strains, and the compound of formula (I) is useful as not only an injection but also its ester derivative is useful as oral medicine.
