PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a stretched film reduced in the shift of the delay phase axial direction of the central part of a film with that of the end part of the film and capable of stably obtaining the stretched film reduced in thickness irregularity and irregularity of retardation, and a phase difference film manufactured thereby. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the stretched film having a process for stretching a thermoplastic resin film by a tenter stretching machine and taking over the stretched film by a take-over roll, the tension in the traveling direction of the film is adjusted within a range of 50-600 N by the take-over roll to stretch the film.
