<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and apparatus for an optical head unit, wherein the luminance center position emitted from a semiconductor laser is easily aligned with a target position with high precision. <P>SOLUTION: In a manufacturing stage for the optical head unit, collimated luminous flux emitted by a collimator lens 12 is made incident on an imaging lens to form a spot. Further, the semiconductor laser 11 is moved relatively along the optical axis to pass the focus position of the collimator lens 12 and a maximum value of a feature value of the spot which varies during the period is stored. Then while the featured value is measured, the semiconductor laser 11 is moved along the optical axis, it is considered that the semiconductor 11 is at the focal position of the collimator lens 1 on condition that the feature value enters a designated range of the maximum value, and the relative position of the semiconductor laser 11 to the collimator lens 12 is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
