<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a user interface at the time of printing information setting. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming system in which an image input device and an image output device communicate with each other, the image input device is equipped with a requesting means which makes a transmission request for functional information that can be taken care of at the image output device side to the image output device, a receiving means which receives the functional information transmitted from the image output device, and a transmitting means for transmitting an output condition based on the received functional information to the image output device.
