<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus realizing high-quality image formation by making the thickness of toner on the outer circumferential surface of a developing roller uniform with simple structure and arranging a patch sensor at an optimum position. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus equipped with: a developing cartridge 37 which develops an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor drum 32a by sticking the toner on the outer circumferential surface 42a of the developing roller 42 to the electrostatic latent image; and the patch sensor 69 which detects the density of the toner image developed by the developing cartridge, the density of toner stuck to the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the image carrier is adjusted based on detection information by the patch sensor. The apparatus has a regulating blade which makes the thickness of the toner on the outer circumferential surface of the developing roller constant, and the patch sensor is arranged at a spot where the thickness of the toner on the outer circumferential surface of the developing roller regulated by the regulating blade tends to become the smallest in its axial direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
