PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner of an inexpensive constitution, low noise and high heat exchanging efficiency. SOLUTION: This outdoor unit for the air conditioner has an air circulating portion A in which a heat exchanger 2 is mounted and the air flows, a blowout opening 6 formed on a top face of a main body 1, an air blower 3 mounted on an upper portion of the main body 1 and sucking the air from the air circulating portion A, an air non-circulating portion B, a control box 4 incorporating a control circuit (not shown in drawing) controlling the air blower 3 or the like, and an air trunk 1a communicated with the air blower 3 at its upper end and composed of the air non-circulating portion B and the control box 4, and the control box 4 is mounted so that a part of the wind sucked by the air blower acts on a lower portion of the heat exchanger 2 through the air trunk 1a, thus not only the quantity of air induced from a lower portion of the heat exchanger 2 is increased, but also the quantity of air induced from an upper portion of the heat exchanger 2 is reduced, the resistance in the heat exchanger 2 is reduced by uniforming a distribution of wind speed in the heat exchanger 2, the noise can be reduced, the heat exchanging efficiency can be improved, and the power consumption can be reduced.
