PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array controller capable of recording only the error log of consistency checks on the working region of each physical drive that constitutes a disk array. SOLUTION: A check/restoration performing part 12 performs consistency checks on all the regions of each HDD, including unused areas not used for the disk array, and performs restoration if an inconsistency is detected. An initially-checked block information recording part 13 acquires and records the final block number for which an initial inconsistency check has ended after construction of RAID. When an inconsistency is detected in a check performed by the check/restoration performing part 12, an error log recording part 14 compares the block number of the current check with a block number stored in a nonvolatile storage part to determine whether or not the block of the block number has already received the initial check; if the block has already received the initial check, its block number, HDD identification information, the time of error detection, and the like are recorded as a log of inconsistency errors.
