PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which can quickly and surely perform connection-checking work in a short period in remote maintenance using a network of redundantly configured devices. SOLUTION: When an operator 101 initiates connection checking to a representative monitoring device 20A among a plurality of redundantly configured monitoring devices 20 in order to monitor devices to be monitored which are required to stably operate, other monitoring devices 20 automatically start connection checking to a maintenance device 50 at a maintenance center according to instructions from the representative monitoring device 20A. The maintenance center reports the results of the connection checking together, by one electronic mail (connection checking mail 43), for each group of the monitoring devices 20 provided in specific monitoring devices to be monitored, to a terminal 100 of a device setter. When a failure occurs in a monitoring device 20, another monitoring device 20 executes alternatively the connection checking to the maintenance center. In such a case, the connection results including the error information of the failed monitoring device 20 are reported together by one electronic mail from the maintenance center to the terminal 100 of a device setter.
