PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the distance between a control terminal and an electronic device body accurately by uniforming the luminance and relatively increasing the level in a circular pattern of the distance measuring light imaged in measuring the distance on the side of the electronic device body. SOLUTION: The electronic device comprises the electronic device body (display device 2 and camera section 3) including an image pickup device 32, and a remote controller 4 for controlling this. The remote controller 4 has an infrared LED 41 and a driving section 42 for rotating the infrared LED 41 so that it draws a circle according to an operation from the outside. The camera section 3 detects the maximum diameter of the circular pattern drawn by the trajectory of a peak light quantity section by rotation of the infrared LED 41 in a photographed image by image processing of the photographed image of the image pickup device 32 by an image processing section 33, and measures the distance between the camera section 3 and the remote controller 4 based on the maximum diameter.
