PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for accurately and inexpensively performing the detection and location of carbon deposition on the wall of a coke oven. SOLUTION: A two-color radiation thermometer 2 enabled to output radiant energies at two wavelengths in addition to a temperature output is installed on the rear end of a pusher ram 1. An optical fiber 3 is passed through the inside of the pusher ram and is fixed at its front end on the front end of the ram head to measure the radiant energy of coke in each oven every time of pushing.
