PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus, in which time of image formation can be shortened and the excess heating of a heating part can be prevented. SOLUTION: In a heating apparatus provided with a heating part 4, a main power supply device 6 for supplying power from an external power supply to supply power to the heating part 4 and an auxiliary power supply device 7 allowed to be charged from the external power supply is provided with a charger 8 for charging the auxiliary power supply device 7 when power supply from the main power supply device 6 to the heating part 4 is stopped and power supply from the auxiliary power supply device 7 to a heater is stopped on the way of image formation so that the upper limit of the charging quantity of the auxiliary power supply device 7 becomes previously determined prescribed quantity less than the full charged state of the auxiliary power supply device 7.
