<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide free-cutting soft magnetic iron to which excellent machinability is imparted while having satisfactory magnetic properties. <P>SOLUTION: The free-cutting soft magnetic iron has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.05% C, ≤4.0% Si, ≤1.0% Mn, 0.03 to 0.35% S and 0.05 to 1.0% Ti, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which, provided that X=100C(%)-Si(%)+5Mn(%)+30S(%)+3Ti(%), the X satisfies ≤15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
