<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent illicit use by managing the number and the use of licenses when a device is equipped with full functions, with some particular functions licensed so that the licenses are sold independently of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The management of the number of licenses is separated from the management of the actual license distribution. The number of licenses is managed between a monitoring device and a master node.
