PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a biodegradable resin composition that is excellent in melt processability, mechanical properties and storage stability of the resin. SOLUTION: The biodegradable resin composition is prepared by reacting a hydroxycarboxylic acid copolymer composed mainly of a glycolic acid with an isocyanate compound. Such a resin composition has the characteristics that it has gas barrier properties as well as biodegradability of the resin and is excellent in melt processability, mechanical properties and storage stability of the resin. Accordingly, the biodegradable resin composition can be used in broad applications such as a film, a sheet, a fiber, a medical material and the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
