PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel phenol derivative having an oxetane ring which can prepare a polymerized product excellent in transparency, curability, thick film formability, and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The phenol derivative having an oxetane ring is represented by structural formula (1). This phenol derivative having an oxetane ring is manufactured by reacting a specific phenol compound with a sulfonic acid ester of a specific 3-hydroxymethyloxetane in the presence of an alkali metal.
