PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high purity Ca-Mg composite carbonates in which the shapes of fine particles and particles are made uniform, to provide a fired product thereof, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A reaction product obtained by bringing raw materials having the reduced content of heavy metals or freed of heavy metal into contact with Ca ions, Mg ions and CO<SB>3</SB>ions in water is subjected to heating treatment (preferably, hydrothermal treatment), so as to produce high purity Ca-Mg double carbonates expressed by the following formula (1), and in which the shapes of fine particles and particles are also made uniform: Ca<SB>1-X</SB>Mg<SB>X</SB>CO<SB>3</SB>(1) (wherein, X satisfies 0<X<1).
