NEW THERMO-STABLE PROTEASE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protease derived from a super thermophilic bacterium Pyrococcus horikoshii and having thermostability and high specificity.

SOLUTION: A thermo-stable protease and its variant have properties of recognizing and definitely decomposing a hydrophobic amino acid sequence concerning to multimerization of membrane protein stomatin and are derived from Pyrococcus horikoshii. The variant contains an N-terminal side water-soluble domain and is activated as a dimer, and is a heat resistant protease which has a molecular weight of about 25 kDa (SDS-PAGE) and the optimum temperature of about 98°C or above and whose optimum pH is about 5 to about 6.
