PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission controller capable of stably obtaining high tightening response property of a friction element while preventing unexpected tightening of the friction element. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission controller 10 is provided with an electronic control circuit 16 for generating control current, a solenoid valve 14 for adjusting command pressure in accordance with the control current, and a pressure control valve 12 for adjusting pressure supplied to the friction element 4 of an automatic transmission 2 by letting a spool 24 slide into a spool hole 20 in accordance with the command pressure. In a condition in which the friction element 4 is released, the solenoid valve 14 receives vibration current as control current from the electronic control circuit 16 to generate stand-by command pressure for reciprocating and vibrating the spool 24 in a scope for generating no pressure supplied to the friction element 4 as command pressure for the pressure control valve 12.
