PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tread rubber composition used for tires and capable of improving the fuel cost-reducing property, wet steering stability and snow steering stability of pneumatic tires in good balance, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the tread rubber composition used for tires. SOLUTION: This tread rubber composition used for tires and comprising styrene-butadiene rubber and a modified natural rubber prepared by graft-polymerizing a polar group-containing monomer to a natural rubber latex and then coagulating and drying the latex is characterized in that the styrene-butadiene rubber is styrene-butadiene rubber satisfying: A+0.5B≥35, wherein A is the amount (wt.%) of the bound styrene; B is the amount (wt.%) of the bound vinyl.
