<p>This invention relates to a synthetic turf (2) comprised of a backing (10, 12), a synthetic grass-like surface (4) which is comprised of textured (8) and non-textured (8) grass-like fibers that are secured to the backing. In certain embodiments, the synthetic turf is variable according to weight, composition and/or configuration to provide flexibility such that longer strips of synthetic turf can, at least in portions, be reduced in density/quality in order that the overall weight of the strip is suitable for transport. In addition, in certain embodiments, the synthetic turf comprises a fill layer (40) comprised of substantially ambient rubber spread substantially uniform throughout the textured and non-textured grass-like fibers. In another embodiment the grass like fibers are composed of melamin/phenol/formaldehyde molding compounds.</p> |
