The device has a protective strip (30) with an attachment section (41) fixed to the door (20) and a movable working section (43) pivotably joined to the attachment section by a rotary joint. The working section is held in a lowered out-of-use position when the door is closed and moved around the edge by a spring storage drive when the door is open. The spring storage drive is a flat spring (40) that also forms the rotary joint of the protective strip.
